Encourage your registrar to prioritise their wellbeing
All registrars should be encouraged to have their own GP, outside of the clinic where they work, for independent objective medical care.
If you are located in an isolated area, telehealth is an excellent option. Help your registrars find telehealth-capable GPs through the Doctors Health Line (1800 006 888).
If you are aware your registrar is struggling with a wellbeing issue, please reach out to their Program Officer or Medical Educator. They can support you and link your registrar into wellbeing supports offered by the RACGP.
Finally, if you are struggling, we strongly encourage you to also seek support. In addition to the Doctors Health Line, all RACGP members can access the GP Support Program. This is free and confidential counselling service. Appointments can be made by calling 1300 361 008.
Prioritising wellbeing is important and will set you and your registrar up for a healthier and more sustainable career in General Practice.
