Message from your Supervisor Liaison Officer
G’day,
For those who don’t know me, my name is Ian Kamerman and I’m your Supervisor Liaison Officer (SLO). What’s that? Essentially, I am employed by the RACGP to be your advocate at all levels with respect to your role as supervisors within the Fellowship Support Program. Yes, when I write that there is an inherent conflict of interest. However, this has been the case since the earliest days of GP training in Australia and SLOs have been successfully supporting and advocating for the role of supervisors for many years.
I am a GP supervisor and practice owner in Tamworth NSW and have experience in most GP training programs, with a particular interest in supporting IMGs and rural practice. I have been the chair of GP Supervisors Australia in the past.
I am passionate about the role of GP supervisors in Australia. It is a privilege to be entrusted with training the next generation of GPs. The closeness involved in GP training makes for lifelong personal and professional relationships.
Please feel free to reach out to me at any time about issues that you may have, with respect to training and support, registrar or college issues, or other matters that you may wish to be taken up with the RACGP or GPSA. I’m the only SLO for the FSP and work part-time in the role, so if you get in touch, thanks for your patience – I’ll come back to you as soon as possible.
You can contact me at fspslo@racgp.org.au.
Ian
