Support your registrars to complete Registrar Clinical Encounters in Training (ReCEnT)

Registrars in participating regions are required to complete ReCEnT online encounters as a core educational activity. Please see the details and key dates for participating registrars below:  

The report generated from each round of ReCEnT enables registrars to reflect on their clinical exposure with their supervisors and adjust their training and learning goals accordingly.

Our new payment screens are now live!

We’ve heard your feedback and have made changes to make your national consistent payment (NCP) information in the training management system (TMS) easier to read. 

On your Practice Payments page, you’ll see some new information below the name of your practice to indicate the total of all payment schedules and the total amount you have been paid for all registrars at your practice for the semester. In the payments tables, we have added an adjustments column so that you can more easily see if overpayments have been applied to any of your payments, and totals for all columns. Also, if there are multiple placements for a registrar, all payments are now shown in a single table so that your overall payment information can be more easily reviewed.

Updated information on registrar travel to mandatory out of practice education

From the commencement of 2024.2, registrars training in MMM2-7 locations may be eligible to claim travel expenses to mandatory out of practice education. The updated guidance document can be found here. Eligible registrars will be required to complete and submit the AGPT Registrar Travel Reimbursement Claim Form.  

Registrars working in MMM1 locations who must travel significant distances to attend mandatory out of practice education will be contacted by their local training team if they’re eligible for accommodation and/or claim for travel expenses in 2024.2.  

Please keep this in mind while supporting registrars to plan/complete their training activities.  

Registrars as teachers – findings from the GP training research team

The GP Training Research Team has recently completed an Education Research Grant project titled Australian GP registrars as teachers: A qualitative study. This project interviewed GP registrars, supervisors, medical educators and medical students about their experiences with registrars in teaching roles.  

The team’s findings suggest that registrar teaching is a valuable skill with transferability to clinical work and patient care, however, more support is needed to facilitate registrars as teachers on a larger scale. These findings may be of interest to practice managers and supervisors and can be considered while supporting registrars with their training.
