Prioritise your health: Why you need your own GP

As a registrar, it is important that you make your own health a priority.  We recommend all registrars have their own GP for ongoing, independent objective medical care. A dedicated GP knows your history and understands the pressures of the job.  They can provide a listening ear, support, and guidance through any physical or mental health challenge.

Taking care of your health ensures you're better equipped to care for others. If you're in an isolated area, telehealth consultations are a great option. Find telehealth-capable GPs through the Doctors Health Line (1800 006 888). Prioritise your wellbeing today to thrive in your career as a GP! 

Notes regarding the change in circumstance process

If you’ve recently submitted a change in circumstance (CIC) request or intending to soon, we’d like you to be aware of the following:

CIC requests that relate to applying for a new or additional training site need to allow three months (12 weeks) to receive an outcome. You must receive your outcome before moving.
If your supervisor is intending to take leave, a CIC request must be submitted. This request needs to be approved before alternative arrangements take place or it won’t count towards training time which will extend your program time and ability to sit exams.
If your supervisor decides to move practices, you’ll need to submit a CIC request as alternate arrangements will need to be approved.

For those in the consolidation phase, you can submit a CIC request to change training sites and/or supervisor, however, the new training site and/or supervisor must already be accredited to train FSP registrars.

Registrar handbook refresh

The FSP Registrar handbook was recently updated.

Changes include:

terminology updates such as post-education to consolidation and learners individualised focused training to focused learning intervention.
refinement in processes relating to recognition of prior learning, supervisor leave cover and changing training sites.
further information added regarding program requirements such as practice diversity, and term adjustments.

We currently have the PDF available and are working on the web version. We are hoping to launch the web version by Friday 21 March 2025.

Reminder | Update to Key Feature Problem exam format

From 2025.2, the Key Feature Problem (KFP) exam format has been updated to remove handwritten responses.

To support candidates with the updated format, a full suite of resources is available on the KFP webpage.

Latest self-assessment progress test

This first self-assessment progress test (SAPT) with the updated KFP format was released on 10 March 2025. SAPTs include example Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and KFP questions to help you identify learning needs, self-assess your clinical reasoning, and develop written exam skills. They provide immediate and specific feedback on how you perform in RACGP Fellowship exams, as the practice questions are developed by the same team who write the real exam.

Consolidation phase announcements

If you’re in the consolidation phase, we want you to be aware of the following dates:

Results for the 2025.1 AKT were published yesterday, Tuesday 11 March 2025.
Results for the 2025.1 KFP are scheduled to publish on Monday 31 March 2025.
Enrolments for the 2025.1 Clinical Competency exam are currently open and will close on Wednesday 2 April 2025.
Enrolments for the 2025.2 AKT and KFP will open at 9.00am AEDT Friday 4 April 2025 and close 11.59pm AEST Thursday 1 May 2025.

Please keep in mind that requests for late enrolment will no longer be accepted outside of the enrolment period. Special arrangement applications are also required by the close of enrolments.
