Nearly a decade on, I'm still feeling like I'm in freefall. It's a thrilling yet mortifying experience. Inward reflection on how little I actually know, and gazing outward, the patient asking me to solve their most intimate problems, their pain, their relationships.
Just when you get a handle on a presentation, there is a twist, a new take or uncertainty.
The nature of the beast. This is medicina. 500 years ago, we would’ve been walking around with bird masks to ward off evil spirits. Today, we use radiation to eliminate cancer. Tomorrow?
More importantly, how will we do it? With compassion...love...honesty?
