GP training incentive payments
The Australian Government has introduced three incentive payments for AGPT registrars from 2026.1, designed to support the transition from hospital-based work to community general practice.
GPT1 incentive payment:
You don’t need to apply. Eligibility is based on your confirmed placement details (placement type, term, and FTE) already recorded in the training management system (TMS). Once your placement is confirmed, a payment schedule is automatically created.
If eligible, you'll receive an email requesting completion of an online declaration. Payment cannot be made until this declaration is completed.
Study and parental leave incentives:
To claim study or parental leave incentive payments, you must submit a leave application form available via’ Forms, Documents and Links’ in the TMS.
The form outlines required supporting evidence and includes a link to the mandatory declaration. Payment will be scheduled once your application is reviewed and approved.
