On behalf of the registrar liaison officers, I would like to kindly remind everyone of some important training milestones and requirements as we approach the middle of 2025.1. 

Mid-term assessments are coming up and it’s helpful to schedule a mini-clinical evaluation exercise (mini–CEX) and random case analysis (RCA) before the assessment, to assist your supervisors in understanding how you’re progressing this semester. 

For GPT2 registrars, please remember that completion of multi-source feedback and the ReCEnT survey are mandatory requirements for progressing towards Fellowship.

2025.2 placement applications are open

Placement applications for 2025.2 are now open, and training sites can make offers to registrars. You can continue applying to training sites until you secure a placement, but Medicare provider number paperwork must be submitted by 2 June in order for you to start your placement at the commencement of 2025.2. 

Please reach out to your training coordinator if you need support or have any questions about the application process. 

Incentivised and remote supervision placements

RACGP's placement incentives provide additional funding to registrars training in areas of identified workforce need. Not only will you benefit from the breadth of clinical experience available in areas with unique healthcare needs, you'll also receive funding to help with relocation and living costs. Discover incentivised locations and the funding available here. 

GP2+ registrars can also explore remote supervision placement opportunities and make a positive impact in underserved communities. Whether it's training on Norfolk Island in Queensland or the Ngaanyatjarra lands in Western Australia, you can make a difference in communities that need general practice support. AKT/KFP exam preparation video

The 2025.2 Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and Key Feature Problem (KFP) information video is now available via gplearning. The video covers:   

• the format of the AKT and KFP   

• how to best use the resources available    

• study tips    

• how to prepare for and approach the exam.

New Self-Assessment Progress Test

A new Self-Assessment Progress Test (SAPT) will be available on 12 May to support your exam preparation for the 2025.2 Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and Key Feature Problem (KFP). To access the SAPT, log in to gplearning and select the Self-Assessment Progress Tests course. 

This SAPT reflects the updated KFP format, as from 2025.2 handwritten responses will be removed from the exam.  
 
SAPTs include example exam questions to help you identify learning needs, self-assess clinical reasoning and develop written exam skills. Before starting the SAPT, we recommend completing the Exam Support Online (ESO) modules on gplearning.    

Exam preparation webinar

Join renowned performance psychologist, Dr Patsy Tremayne, as she guides you through preparing for the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT), Key Feature Problem (KFP) and Clinical Competency Exam (CCE). 

This session focuses on the psychology of preparing and studying for exams, not the content of the exams themselves. This free webinar will not be recorded, so we hope to see you there!

Academic Post Program applications are open

Changes to leave and addition of study leave

To help manage your wellbeing and support the preparation for your exams, we’ll recognise a total of three days of study leave (pro-rata) per exam semester as ‘training time’. 

To be eligible, you must sit at least one exam in that semester.   

Study leave isn’t an entitlement under the National Terms and Conditions for the Employment of Registrars (NTCER), however, your employer may choose to offer study leave (paid or non-paid) as a non-standard term in your employment contract.
