The Australian Journal of General Practice (AJGP) is entering an exciting new phase of strategic development and is seeking expressions of interest from experienced professionals to join its newly established Journal Advisory Committee (JAC).
As the official peer-reviewed journal of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), AJGP provides evidence-based, clinically relevant information that supports Australian GPs in delivering high-quality patient care across diverse practice settings. The journal is committed to editorial excellence, robust peer review and advancing general practice.
The new Journal Advisory Committee has been established to provide high-level strategic guidance to the Editor-in-Chief and Publications team, helping to ensure AJGP remains future-focused, relevant and responsive to the evolving needs of the profession.
New leadership for a new chapter
The RACGP is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Paul Glasziou as Chair of the Journal Advisory Committee.
An internationally recognised leader in evidence-based medicine, Professor Glasziou has made significant contributions to improving the translation of research into clinical practice throughout his distinguished career. His work has helped shape healthcare policy, research methodology and evidence-based decision making both in Australia and internationally, including his leadership in developing the RACGP's Handbook of Non-Drug Interventions (HANDI).
Working alongside Editor-in-Chief Professor David Wilkinson, Professor Glasziou will help guide the strategic direction of AJGP, supporting its continued growth, academic excellence and impact within Australian general practice.
About the Journal Advisory Committee
The Journal Advisory Committee is an advisory body that supports the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial team by providing strategic leadership and expert advice on matters relating to:
Unlike an operational editorial committee, the JAC is designed to provide high-level strategic oversight and future-focused advice, helping position AJGP to meet the needs of both the general practice and scholarly communities.
Committee members will also serve as ambassadors for AJGP, promoting the journal, encouraging high-quality submissions and supporting its continued reputation as a trusted source of evidence-based information.

The selection process will also aim to achieve an appropriate balance of expertise, backgrounds, geographic representation and perspectives across the committee.
