Digital Health Festival an ‘invaluable’ GP experience
RACGP leaders will join health-tech innovators as the event delves into the future of ‘connection’ in healthcare.
More than 8000 people attended the 2025 Digital Health Festival.
RACGP experts will join more than 400 health leaders and innovators to share their insights and shape the future of medicine at this year’s Digital Health Festival.
Building on the success of last year’s event, which saw more than 8000 attendees, the festival will return to Melbourne from 20–21 May to tackle the theme of ‘transforming healthcare through connection’.
RACGP President Dr Michael Wright will take to the podium on day one to deliver an address on what lies ahead as general practice undertakes a digital transformation.
‘The GP-patient relationship is at the core of general practice; the best care always comes from a GP who knows you,’ he told newsGP.
‘But we have a really great opportunity to incorporate digital solutions, while keeping that connection, that relationship, at the centre of the reform discussion.
‘We hope that digital solutions will give GPs more time to spend with their patients as well as improving efficiency and other health outcomes.’
This year, the college has joined on as an Industry Partner for the festival and is encouraging members to attend. RACGP members can apply for a complimentary Public Health VIP ticket, valued at more than $1000.
Dr Wright said by connecting GPs with other decisionmakers across the healthcare and digital sectors, emerging technologies can be guided to best serve areas of need.
‘GPs see the realities of our health system every day. Our patients and their journeys give us deep understanding about where the system is working and where it is not,’ he said.
‘That exciting insight, which is invaluable to policymakers, to other clinicians, and to patients, is shaping the future frontier of healthcare.
‘It’s vital to have events like the Digital Health Festival where clinicians can share their experience, challenge assumptions, and directly inform decisions and technology that impact patient care.’
In addition to Dr Wright, attendees will be able to hear from RACGP Expert Committee – Practice Technology and Management Chair Dr Rob Hosking, and RACGP Specific Interests Digital Health and Innovation Deputy Chair Dr Darran Foo.
Dr Foo will join three other panellists to examine how emerging technologies can be used to support patient retention by improving their GP experience.
Other RACGP members scheduled to lead presentations include Australian Digital Health Agency Chief Clinical Adviser Amandeep Hansra and Growlife Medical owner and GP Dr Aaron Chambers.
Experts in a wide variety of fields will also be presenting and attending the festival, including primary and allied health, pharmacy, biotechnology, government, and aged care – also presenting an opportunity for attendees to network with executives and senior clinicians.
The program will drill into cutting-edge topics for the health sector, exploring developments in AI, cybersecurity, wellness tech, surgery, and clinical trials.
Speakers will take to the stage at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, ensuring attendees will be spoilt for choice throughout the two-day schedule.
Information on a selection of panels and guests is available online, with updates announcing more details expected in the weeks to come.
