GPs recognised with Queen’s Birthday honours
A host of GPs have been recognised for their contributions to medicine and the wider community.
Recipients were recognised for contributions to medicine and the general public across a range of diverse areas.
Ten GPs have been included in the 2022 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for their outstanding service and contributions to Australia.
The recipients were recognised for contributions to medicine and the general public across a range of diverse areas, including Indigenous health, sports medicine, the Australian Defence Force, and general practice.
‘I want to recognise the hard work and contributions of GPs across Australia on this day,’ RACGP President Adjunct Professor Karen said, following the list’s publication.
‘The past few years have been incredibly challenging. We’ve dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic, rolling out Australia’s largest vaccination program, managing COVID-positive patients in the community, and the mental health toll of the pandemic, and all the while maintaining usual care for patients.
‘I know it has been tough, and I have been proud to see GPs across the nation face all these challenges head on, adapt swiftly to the changes, and go above and beyond to keep our communities safe and healthy.’

Governor-General David Hurley also congratulated those included on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List and said they represent ‘the very best of Australia’.
‘Recipients share some common traits – including selflessness, excellence and a commitment to service,’ he said.
‘They’re from different backgrounds, their stories are each unique, and each has served in different ways.
‘This diversity is a strength, and each has impacted their community and made it better. For that, we thank them and, today, we celebrate them.’
