In Practice: Abstract submissions open for GP26

Opportunities to present on clinical and research topics at the RACGP’s premier general practice conference are now open.

Abstract submissions are now open for presentations for GP26, held in November in Adelaide, Kaurna Country.

This week’s In Practice also includes expressions of interest to join the college’s Funding and Health System Reform Expert Committee, and a reminder for nominations for this year’s RACGP Awards and to join the Mentoring Program.
 
GP26 abstract submissions now open
The RACGP’s flagship conference will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, on Kaurna Country, from Friday 20 – Sunday 22 November. Abstract submissions are now open for presentations across clinical learnings, research and medical education. Submissions close at 11.00 pm (AEST), Tuesday 9 June.
 
More information about the opportunity to present at the college’s biggest conference of the year and to make a submission is available at the GP26 website. Registrations for the conference are also now open.
 
RACGP Awards: Nominations closing soon
There is less than a month left to nominate an inspiring GP, registrar, supervisor or educator for the 2026 RACGP Awards.
 
Nominations carry real weight – they tell a colleague their commitment to their patients, community and profession has not gone unnoticed. Nominations close 9.00 am (AEST), Monday 1 June and can be done via the RACGP website.
 
EOIs: RACGP Expert Committee – Funding and Health System Reform
The RACGP is seeking two new committee members to join this transformative team. Members can be at the forefront of systemic change and represent GPs across the nation. Find out more and express interest before 15 May.
 
RACGP Mentoring Program: Applications closing soon
Applications for the Mentoring Program close 31 May. This is an opportunity to join the 2026 intake as a mentor or mentee and build professional connections, gain tailored one-on-one support, or share experiences with New Fellows.

GPADD Conference 2026
The RACGP’s General Practice in Addiction (GPADD) Conference takes place 28–29 August in Melbourne. Attendees can explore practical workshops, expert speakers and evidence-based approaches to alcohol and other drugs in general practice, while connecting with peers and building skills in addiction care.
 
Early bird tickets are available until 19 July – more information is available on the RACGP website.
 
Certificate of Primary Care Dermatology workshops
5–7 June, Brisbane | 30 October – 1 November, Sydney
 
Registrations are now open for the:

  • Introduction to dermoscopy – half-day workshop
  • Dermatological surgery – two-day workshop.
Participants in the Dermatological surgery workshop must also complete the pre-requisite DermCert4 (Practical procedures in dermatology).
 
More information about the Certificate of Primary Care Dermatology, including registrations for the workshops, is available on the RACGP website.
 
MATOD accreditation and upskilling
Skilled prescribers are urgently needed to provide safe, evidence-based treatment for patients experiencing opioid dependence.
 
GPs can fast-track medication-assisted treatment for opioid dependence (MATOD) accreditation and enhance their skills with the RACGP’s free and flexible training options, while also earning CPD hours.
 
Online and in-person workshops run throughout 2026, as well as self-paced online training. More information is available on the RACGP website.
