The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (DoHDA) has developed an editorial for prescribers in relation to Prescriber Bag ordering for dissemination.
Over recent months, concerns have been identified regarding compliance with the requirements of the National Health Act 1953 and associated Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme arrangements.
The editorial reinforces the intended purpose of Prescriber Bag arrangements, outlines appropriate ordering practices, and highlights the professional responsibilities associated with the ordering of medicines through Prescriber Bag arrangements.

Shape how Lung Foundation Australia engages with healthcare professionals
Lung Foundation Australia is developing a Healthcare Professional Engagement Strategy to help define how it engages, supports and creates value for healthcare professionals across the respiratory health sector into the future.
As part of this work, it is seeking input from key stakeholders across the sector, to understand current and emerging needs, potential collaboration, and support for healthcare professionals. Insights will help inform the development of the strategy.
The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and will closes on 7 September.
Evaluation of the Medicare urgent care clinic program
Input is being sought from GPs to understand perspectives on the impact of Medicare urgent care clinics (UCCs) on local health systems.
Expressions of interest are now open to participate in a reimbursed feedback session ($75 per half hour). The evaluation team will hold three feedback sessions at different times and on different days to accommodate a range of schedules. These sessions will explore topics including:
- GPs’ overall experiences and perspectives on Medicare UCCs
- the impact of UCCs on local general practice
- integration and coordination between UCCs and local health services
- opportunities to strengthen the model in the future.
