GP education: Assessing fitness to drive
Austroads has released the new Assessing Fitness to Drive education module for GPs. Available free of charge until the end of May, the module is a foundation-level online learning resource designed to support application of the Assessing Fitness to Drive Standards in everyday clinical practice.

The module provides practical, clinically focused guidance, supported by case examples, reflective activities and communication strategies for practitioners involved in assessing fitness to drive.

Further information about the module, including enrolment details, is available on the Austroads website.

Academic Post Program 2027
Australian General Practice Training registrars interested in building research and teaching skills alongside clinical training are encouraged to apply for the RACGP Academic Post Program 2027 intake, opening 27 April and closing 6 July.

To help registrars prepare and determine if the Academic Post is right for them, the RACGP is hosting two webinars:

Registrar showcase webinar: Tuesday 24 March, 7.00 pm (AEDT)
Hear from four previous Academic Post registrars as they share their research and experiences. Learn how they developed their projects, connected with universities, and what their weeks looked like during the term.

Pre-application webinar: Thursday 23 April, 7.00 pm (AEST)
Learn more about the program, the application process, and how to develop a strong submission.

The 2027 Academic Post Application Guide details full eligibility criteria, timelines and application requirements.

Whole-child approach for families waiting for ADHD assessments
Webinar: Wednesday 25 March, 7.00–8.30 pm (AEDT)
CPD: 1.5 EA hour
Register online

In collaboration with Emerging Minds and RACGP Specific Interests, this webinar is the first in the series and will discuss the role GPs play in supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing.

The panel discussion will explore how developmental and behavioural challenges reflect the ‘whole child’ – their emotions, relationships, environment, culture and experiences. It will focus on practical ways GPs can frame behaviour within a broader context and use this approach to connect families with supports and resources from the first consultation.

National Research and Evaluation Ethics Committee seeking new members
The RACGP National Research and Evaluation Ethics Committee (NREEC) is seeking a community/consumer member to fill a vacancy on the committee. Expressions of interest (EOIs) close Thursday 2 April.

The NREEC evaluates general practice research projects in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research. The community/consumer member brings a broad perspective and has no affiliation with the RACGP.

Community/consumer members are expected to review submissions drawing on their personal knowledge and experience, and can be located anywhere in Australia.

For further information, view the position description or contact the Research Ethics and Special Projects Manager on 03 8699 0385 or gail.roberts@racgp.org.au

EOIs for General Practice in Aged Care Incentive evaluation
EOIs are now open to take part in reimbursed interviews to support the evaluation of the General Practice in Aged Care Incentive.

Nous Group is conducting consultations to support the evaluation of the incentive by speaking to GPs and practice managers to understand variation in uptake and experiences of stakeholders providing the incentive. Reimbursement will be at a rate of $150 per hour. EOIs are open until Friday 27 March.
