In Practice: RACGP flu vaccination campaign
Reinforcing the central role of general practice in vaccine uptake, it includes resources for MPs to share in local communities.
As flu season looms, cases are already rising across Australia, and GPs have an important role in boosting vaccine uptake.
This week’s In Practice also includes a final call for members to share insights of working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners, and upcoming educational sessions on mandatory reporting and Fellowship exam preparation.
Promoting flu vaccination in the community
With influenza cases already rising across Australia, the RACGP is reinforcing the central role of general practice in keeping communities healthy and encouraging people to book their flu vaccination through their local general practice – which is known to boost uptake.
To support this message, the RACGP has developed campaign materials highlighting the important role practice teams play for electorate offices to share through their local channels. The campaign pack includes posters and social media tiles.
For RACGP members who want to play a part in being a strong voice for general practice, joining the GP Advocate Network allows them to receive training and support to build a long-term relationship with elected representatives in their community.
A call for voices: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
The RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health faculty is inviting college members to share their experiences working alongside Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners in primary healthcare.
These stories will help showcase the important role this workforce plays in supporting culturally safe care and improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The faculty is seeking short reflections rather than formal reports, including:
- what working alongside Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners looks like in your practice
- how this workforce supports your team and patient care
- positive experiences, insights or lessons learned from working together.
Testimonials may be featured in future RACGP communications, presentations or publications, with permission. Experiences can be shared via an
online form before Sunday 5 April.
