New clinical governance model
The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) has released the National Model for Clinical Governance.

In developing the national model, the ACSQHC reviewed the latest evidence and consulted with health system leaders and clinicians across Australia to understand gaps in capability and delivery, and what high-performing organisations do differently. The national model represents a significant change in how clinical governance is understood, led and embedded in acute health services.

A range of implementation resources to support health services and clinicians to use the national model is available on the ACSQHC website.

New Support at Home resources for GPs
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (DoHDA) has released new resources to help GPs support older patients accessing the Support at Home program.

The resources include guidance on referral pathways, urgent referrals, reassessments and the End-of-Life Pathway for eligible patients with less than three months to live who wish to remain at home.

Support at Home replaced the Home Care Packages Program and Short-Term Restorative Care Program in November 2025. The program aims to help older people remain healthy, active and connected to their community while living at home.

Members can access the full suite of resources, guidance and referral information via the DoHDA’s Support at Home website.
