In Practice: Share your views on AHPRA codes of conduct
Practitioners are invited to share their views on the expectations for safe and professional behaviour in practice.
An AHPRA review includes the shared code of conduct used by 12 registered health professions, as well as profession-specific codes.
This week’s In Practice also includes registration for GP26’s pre-conference workshops, a webinar on cognitive assessment tools, the LGBTIQ+ Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Sector Survey, and a WorkCover workshop.
Share your views on the future review of the codes of conduct
AHPRA and the National Boards are reviewing the codes of conduct that guide professional behaviour and practice across Australia’s registered health professions.
As part of the early scoping stage of the review, practitioners are invited to complete a short survey to share their experiences and views on the expectations for safe and professional behaviour in practice. The survey will help identify what is working well, emerging issues and areas that may warrant further consideration as the review progresses.
The review includes the shared code of conduct used by 12 registered health professions, as well as the profession-specific codes for doctors, nurses and midwives. Complete the survey by Thursday, 15 October.

Cognitive assessment tools
Webinar: Wednesday, 30 September 2026, 7.30 – 8.30 PM (AEST)
CPD: 1 EA hour
This practical webinar offers GPs an up-to-date overview of cognitive assessment tools, and their role within the broader evaluation of patients presenting with cognitive concerns. Join this session to:
- understand how cognitive assessment tools can support, but not replace, clinical judgement
- learn how to effectively incorporate tools into a holistic patient assessment
- recognise the wide range of potential causes of cognitive impairment
- gain clarity on the strengths and limitations of commonly used tools.
While cognitive assessment tools play an important role, this session reinforces what matters most, your clinical expertise in interpreting results and guiding next steps. Designed for real-world practice, this webinar will help GPs apply tools more confidently while keeping patient-centred, clinical decision-making front and centre.

LGBTIQ+ Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Sector Survey
MindOut is calling on mental health and suicide prevention professionals to complete the LGBTIQ+ Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Sector Survey 2026. LGBTIQ+ people in Australia continue to experience disproportionately high rates of psychological distress and suicide risk.
The aim of this survey is to gather information about sector capability to support all LGBTIQ+ populations through questions on knowledge, practice and organisational systems. Insights will help inform MindOut’s future training, policy development and lived-experience initiatives, with the hope of strengthening suicide prevention practices across Australia.
The survey is anonymous and takes around 15 minutes to complete.

WorkCover patients and general practice workshop
In-person workshop: Saturday, 24 October, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (AEDT)
WorkCover patients can bring more than a clinical question into the consultation. There are certificates to complete, processes to navigate, return-to-work considerations and, at times, uncertainty about what happens next.
For New Fellows, IMGs and registrars, building confidence in managing these situations can make a real difference to everyday practice.
The RACGP’s upcoming interactive workshop will provide practical guidance on navigating WorkCover in general practice, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and learn from experienced clinicians. Hear from occupational medicine specialist Dr Shaun Salimi and IMG GP and medical educator Dr Vahid Masoumi as they share practical insights into managing work-related injuries, WorkCover processes and return-to-work considerations.
