Dr Bastian Seidel described his time as RACGP President as ‘one of the greatest honours’ of his career.

‘The role of RACGP President is one of the greatest honours I have experienced in my career in general practice,’ current President Dr Bastian Seidel told newsGP.
‘The opportunity to advocate on behalf of Australia’s GPs, who represent the beating heart of the country’s healthcare system, is a tremendous privilege and one I have not taken lightly.
‘It is certainly not without its challenges, but I believe working to improve the lives of GPs and their patients remains a vital role for the RACGP and its President, and I anticipate a very deep pool of worthy candidates for this year’s election.’
Full details, including the nomination process and criteria, key dates, and other updates for the elections process, are available on the RACGP website.
In addition to President, nominations will also open for the roles of Censor-in-Chief and Registrar Representative.
‘Each of these roles is vital to the ongoing success of the RACGP,’ Dr Seidel said. ‘Dr Mark Miller and Dr Mary-Therese Wyatt have served commendably in these respective roles for the past two years and, as with the presidential nominees, I expect a number of excellent candidates for each role.’
Nominations are open until 4.00 pm (AEST) Friday 8 June, with nominees for the President, Censor-in-Chief and Registrar Representative to be announced on Tuesday 12 June. An RACGP Presidential Forum is to be held on Tuesday 19 June, and all winners officially announced on Tuesday 3 July.
The two-year terms of the current President, Censor-in-Chief and Registrar Representative end at the close of the RACGP Annual General Meeting on Thursday 11 October.
