This clinic uses the BEACON model and will run in parallel integrated with a Nurse Led Biologics clinic
an established Dermatology Specialist clinic at the Alfred Hospital.
A
Clinical Assistant is a general practitioner or experienced career medical
officer who while not having a specialist qualification in Dermatology is
employed to work under the direction of an Alfred Health specialist in
Dermatology).
Their
duties will include:
•
Under the guidance and teaching of expert senior medical staff the Clinical
Assistant will develop clinical skills and knowledge relevant to the provision
of care to patients under the care of the Dermatology department.

Under the guidance of senior medical staff, the Clinical Assistant will use
their medical and/or general practice skills to provide timely and appropriate
care to Alfred Health patients.
•
According to the nature of the appointment these patients may be inpatients,
outpatients, residents of aged care facilities, in-home patients or presenting
to the emergency department.
•
The Clinical Assistant will work as part of a team to ensure (when necessary)
that patients are efficiently triaged, assessed, admitted, treated and
discharged appropriately.
•
The Clinical Assistant will work collaboratively as a team member with senior
medical staff, junior medical staff, nursing and other staff to provide
efficient, safe and quality care
•
The Clinical Assistant will participate in relevant Unit quality activities,
programs and rosters as requested.
•
The Clinical Assistant will attend and participate in mandatory training
requirements and in any formal education and training programs required by a
unit.
•
The Clinical Assistant will support the strategic priorities and values of
Alfred Health
•
The Clinical Assistant will support Alfred Health’s teaching, research and
clinical governance programs.
