Tobwabba Aboriginal Medical Service is looking for a GP to join our team in Forster NSW, on the beautiful Mid North Coast.
This is a rare opportunity to do meaningful GP work in a community controlled Aboriginal health service, while living and working in one of the most beautiful coastal areas in NSW.
Tobwabba works closely with the local Worimi community and supports Mob across Forster, Tuncurry and surrounding areas. We are looking for a GP who is kind, confident and community focused, and who wants to build strong relationships with patients over time.
The GP will be employed on an attractive hourly rate, with no room rental costs or practice overheads. Salary packaging benefits may also be available.
The clinic provides bulk billed services and sees a broad range of primary health care needs, including Aboriginal health checks, preventative health, chronic disease, family medicine, mental health, women’s health, men’s health, child and family health, immunisations, care planning and treatment room presentations.
You will be supported by nurses, Aboriginal health workers, reception staff, visiting allied health providers and community programs.
Tobwabba is located in the Forster-Tuncurry catchment, which is a DPA location for GPs, MMM3 and classified as Inner Regional Australia. VR GP status, FRACGP or FACRRM is preferred, however IMGs, FGAMS, bonded doctors and non-VR doctors may be considered if they are eligible to bill Medicare through an approved pathway and can obtain the required provider number for this location.
Essential requirements include current Ahpra registration, eligibility for Medicare claiming rights at Tobwabba, strong communication skills and an interest in Aboriginal health and culturally safe care.
Forster-Tuncurry is known for Wallis Lake, beaches, fishing, boating, surfing and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. It is around 35 minutes from Taree, 1 hour from Port Macquarie and around 2 hours from Newcastle.
