The position is an opportunity to consolidate surgical anatomy knowledge as a foundation for building gynaecological surgical expertise. There is a focus on holistic patient-centred care delivered within a culturally safe service. Development of perioperative acumen, introduction to oncological management, and an emphasis on multidisciplinary collaboration are important aspects of the position.
There is an opportunity to continue to develop and maintain general obstetrics and gynaecology skills with participation in the general roster, including after-hours. Pre-invasive disease, including coordinating the Discordant Cytology meeting, is another key component of the role. Identification and development of a research project would be encouraged.
The position would suit a Registrar considering a career in Gynaecological oncology, or wanting to strengthen their surgical ability in preparation for a career as a Regional Specialist or in a lower resource setting.
