About the Role
The Principal Medical Advisor provides high-level clinical oversight and expert medical advice under the Commission’s Clinical Advice Framework. Working collaboratively with other Principal Medical Advisors, the role ensures consistent application of appropriate clinical standards across all Commission processes. You will contribute your expertise to the assessment of complaints, evaluation of practitioners’ and organisations’ clinical performance, and consideration of potential disciplinary actions. The role also supports risk-based decision-making, strengthens organisational capability in interpreting clinical information, and identifies risks to public health and safety.
This is a temporary part-time opportunity. Remote work is supported, with occasional in-office attendance required.
About You
You will hold postgraduate medical qualifications (e.g., FRACGP or other specialty Fellowship) and have extensive experience as a medical practitioner, with general and/or specialist registration (or eligibility) with AHPRA and membership of an Australian Postgraduate Medical College. You will demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of current clinical practice standards, clinical governance, and contemporary medical ethics. Knowledge of the NSW health regulatory system, or the ability to quickly acquire it, is essential. Recent hospital experience is highly desirable.
