Join a role that goes beyond clinical care—this locum opportunity on Palm Island offers you the chance to contribute to a remote Aboriginal community where your presence truly matters. At Prescript Recruitment, we place doctors where they’re needed most. This role is based at Joyce Palmer Health Service (JPHS) on Palm Island—known to locals as Bwgcolman—home to over 40 Indigenous clan groups. The island is rich in culture, history, and community spirit, but like many remote areas, it also faces complex healthcare challenges.

We’re looking for an experienced Rural Generalist (FACRRM or FRACGP) with strong emergency medicine skills. You’ll be working in a collaborative model alongside the Aboriginal Medical Service provider (Palm Island Community Company – PICC), contributing across both acute and primary care. This is a broad-scope role that requires adaptability, cultural awareness, and a deep commitment to making a difference.

Key Service Snapshot:

  • 1–2 bed Emergency Department (approx. 22 presentations/day)
  • 11-bed inpatient ward (avg. occupancy: 6)
  • 10-hour shifts with fatigue breaks
  • On-call typically 1 in 2 or 1 in 3

Dates Available:

30 June – 28 December 2025

Minimum commitment: 2 weeks (multiple blocks available)

What’s Included:

  • Return flights, accommodation, and vehicle provided
  • Negotiable daily rate based on experience
  • Full support from our expert credentialing and logistics team
  • Early access to opportunities through trusted partnerships with regional and Aboriginal health services

What You’ll Need:

  • Fellowship with ACRRM or RACGP
  • ALS2 (or equivalent)
  • Emergency and inpatient experience in rural/remote settings
  • A collaborative, respectful approach to working with Aboriginal communities and multidisciplinary teams
