We are seeking
an enthusiastic Rural Generalist to join our team in tropical North Queensland.
Mareeba Hospital is a 40-bed Level 3 facility servicing the Mareeba District
with a large Indigenous population. We provide outreach services to the
township of Dimbulah, as well as a nearby Lotus Glen Correctional Centre. Our
case load includes emergency presentations with trauma and acute illnesses,
care of inpatients including paediatrics and a general practice outpatient
clinic. We see approximately 2,000-2,500 people per month through our
Emergency Department and have about 500 admissions. Our GP Clinic also sees 500
patients per month.
Mareeba is
a one hour drive from Cairns and is located on the Atherton
Tablelands with a population of approximately 10,500 people. The town is 417
metres above sea level on the confluence of the Barron River,
Granite Creek and Emerald Creek. Mareeba has a multicultural
heritage, with beautiful fresh produce, scenic mountain bike riding, bird
watching, various wineries and several coffee plantations. It is an easy scenic
drive to other equally beautiful towns on the Atherton Tablelands.
