2024.1 Placement Process – Practice Capacity Survey –Now Open

Every six months, all practices that would like registrars for the following semester, are required to confirm their Practice capacity in the TMS. 

The survey for practice capacity 2024.1 opened on Monday 11th September and closes Tuesday 3rd October 2023, giving you three weeks to complete the details.  

Please prioritise the completion of this survey in the TMS if you haven't already.

• Log in to TMS  

• Select Practice Capacity Survey from the menu 

• Go through each of the sections in the survey, review and update any practice profile details as required 

• Complete and submit the survey – you will receive an email notification upon completion. 

Please note late completion of the survey may impact your ability to participate in the placement process for obtaining registrars in 2024.1. 

ReCEnT Project – Registrar Clinical Encounters in Training

The Registrar Clinical Encounters in Training (ReCEnT) project aims to document and analyse the nature of general practice registrar consultation's clinical and educational content. Registrars record details of sixty consecutive consultations during training time on three occasions. Educational factors related to the encounter will be recorded along with clinical consultation details.  A report is generated for the registrar to support the registrars’ individual learning needs and inform the education and training program. Practices will also receive a report once there have been 5 (five) collection cycles at the practice. 

We are working towards all regions participating in ReCEnT by 2025, with a staged rollout in 2024. You will be provided with more information if ReCEnT will be rolled out in your region in early 2024.

• Tasmania – All registrars 

• Eastern Victoria – GPT3 registrars who have previously participated in ReCEnT 

Workplace Based Assessment – Multi Source Feedback (MSF)

All GPT2 registrars will need to complete their Multi Source Feedback (MSF) assessment in 2023.2 as part of the RACGP workplace-based assessment (WBA) program.  

The intention of the MSF is to allow registrars to gain feedback from peers, patients and colleagues to provide unique and varied views on their performance. Registrars will receive a comprehensive report at the completion of the MSF and will also need to complete a self-reflective exercise. 

The MSF is scheduled during GPT2 as it allows time for registrars to settle into the GP setting and build the relationships needed to complete the MSF. It is the only Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) that collates holistic feedback from a registrar’s key stakeholders.  

Start date: Monday 11 September 2023  

• Self-reflective exercise due 3 weeks after report is received.

Did you know... Northern Territory has placement grants available for Registrars!

The Northern Territory Placement Support Grants offer an incredible opportunity for registrars to gain hands-on experience in rural and remote medicine in 2024. With these incentivised placements, registrars will encounter diverse clinical scenarios and be exposed to a range of medical cases that can significantly contribute to thier professional growth while making a real impact where it's needed most. 

Who's eligible to apply? 

1. Interstate Registrars: Transfer to the Northern Territory for at least 6 months and receive up to $10,000. In addition, if you choose to do your 6-month placement in an MMM6-7 location, you can earn an additional $5,000 (up to $15,000 in total). 
2. Northern Territory Registrars: Move from MMM2 to MMM6-7 locations for a 6-month placement and receive $5,000. Extend your placement to 12 months and receive an additional $5,000 (up to $10,000 in total). 
3. The NT Placement Support Grants are payable in addition to any National Consistent Payments (NCP) and flexible funds that you may be eligible to receive through the AGPT pathways and any grant funding from other sources, including the NT Government and NT Primary Health Network & Rural Workforce Agency NT.

Funding is for 2024.1 placements and grants are limited. Applications will be assessed, and successful applicants will be notified on Friday, 29 September 2023.
