A message from your Registrar Liaison Officer
Your Registrar Liaison Officer, Dr Muhammad Raza, would like to share his own experiences of how to best prepared when wanting to change training site while in the educational component of the FSP.
"I understand that changing practices for various reasons can be a stressful and time-consuming process. I would like to emphasize that due to the increasing number of candidates and thorough review process at RACGP, determining eligibility for a new practice or accrediting new practices when registrars are transferring takes time and involves several checkboxes that must be addressed before approval.”
Here are a few insights based on his own experiences:
- Allow a minimum of eight weeks after submitting a change in circumstance via the FSP portal for the approval of your new provider number. You can check Provider Digital Access (PRODA) to see if the process has been finalised.
- If you’re changing supervisors, verify that your new supervisor has no conditions or restrictions on their AHPRA registration.
- If you’re changing training sites, confirm your new training site is currently accredited against the RACGP Standards for general practices. Also ensure your letter of support for the new training site has all the information required before submitting.
If you’d like support from Dr Raza, or to discuss the matter further, you can contact him via email at fsprlo@racgp.org.au
