AGPT Handbooks – updates and new content inclusions

Updated versions of the AGPT Practice and Supervisor Handbook and AGPT Registrar Training Handbook have now been published.

The main changes are detailed below:

The AGPT Practice and Supervisor Handbook new content additions include:

Information regarding the Training Management System (TMS)
Further detail about Continuing Professional Development CPD) requirements for Supervisors and reference to CPD for General Practice Supervisors 2023 Guide
Information regarding the role of Supervisor and Practices in delivering EASL and the mid- and end-of term appraisals as part of the Workplace Based Assessment (WBA).

Further information about leave (e.g. roles responsible to approve leave, more info on Cat 4 leave, extra references on maternity leave)
Consistent information regarding leave requirements pertaining to Recognition Prior Learning & Experience (RPLE) applications across the handbook.

2024.1 Placement Process

Remote Supervision Guidelines

Remote supervision is when supervision and teaching are provided by a supervisor who is primarily offsite, using a model of supervision that provides comprehensive and robust support and training.

The Remote Supervision Guidelines have been updated and will be significant in enabling the placement of registrars in remote settings that have had difficulty engaging in GP training.

The RACGP has been working diligently to establish new remote supervision opportunities for AGPT registrars, with a focus on areas of workforce need. The structure provided in the guidelines will enable excellent training experiences under remote supervision that will be conducive to recruiting registrars into these sites and providing them with an experience that encourages them to remain in remote locations following the completion of their training.

Complete the EOI form and return it to become an important voice for your colleagues and cohort as the RACGP supports the professional and personal welfare of all GP Registrars.

The committee will be composed of RACGP GP registrars, GP supervisors and RACGP staff.

Closing soon – AGPT National Registrar Survey

The survey closes on Friday 18 August 2023.

We urge you to continue to encourage registrars to complete the AGPT National Registrar Survey (NRS) to support the continuous improvement in the training of doctors in the AGPT program.

By sharing the importance of the NRS to all registrars, we encourage them to complete the survey.

Continue to promote the importance of the survey to the training community, supervisors and practice managers, who can also encourage registrars to complete the survey.
