2024.1 Placements Process

The RACGP placement process is designed to equitably distribute registrars across Australia in a transparent and flexible manner.

An open market approach, facilitated through the Training Management System (TMS), affords choice for both registrars and practices. Bespoke priority placement support is available where there are identified community, practice, or registrar training needs.

KEY DATES

Monday 31 July	Practice Managers and Delegates are encouraged to log into the TMS and update your Practice Profile
Monday 11 Sept – Tuesday 3 October	Practice placement capacity survey period
Tuesday 26 September – Tuesday 3 October	Registrar Placement confirmation survey period
Wednesday 4 October – Wednesday 11 October	Bi-College consolidation of capacity information received from training sites and registrars
Thursday 12 October – Friday 13 October	Final training capacity and registrar region allocation confirmed for those participating in the placement process
Monday 16 October – Monday 23 October	Registrars commence applying to practices. Practices commence interviews. no offers can be made during this time
Monday 23 October	Practices commence making offers. Registrar applications and practice interviews continue.
Monday 23 October	Placement Confirmation & Medicare Process
Friday 1 December	Medicare Provider Number Deadline

The 2023 AGPT National Registrar Survey is now open

Many of you are aware that the AGPT National Registrar Survey is one method the Australian Government uses to support the continuous improvement in the training of doctors in the AGPT program.

The findings of the survey are used by the Department of Health and Colleges to review and improve the administration, education and training and support in the AGPT program, with a National Report is released publicly while each College receives a report that provides detailed analysis comparing the national results with their individual results to assist with improving education and training.

The survey asks questions regarding employment models, salary and entitlements and will be open until 18 August 2023.

An email from the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), will have been sent directly to the registrar's inbox and contains a unique link for them to compete the survey. All data and reports are anonymised when passed onto the Australian government and Colleges.

So, what action do you need to take?

please share the importance of the NRS to all Registrars- encourage them to complete the survey
And encourage the promotion of the survey's importance to all within your Practice environment who can also encourage the registrars to complete it.
