Wishing you a safe and happy Christmas and New Year

With just a few weeks until the festive season break, it’s important to reflect on everything we’ve accomplished together this year. It’s no small feat that collectively we were able to transition the AGPT program back into the College. Together, we made this happen and have seized the opportunities and overcome the challenges throughout the year.   

I’d like to thank you for helping make GP training a success. We couldn’t do it without the support of our supervisors and their practice teams and are very grateful for your ongoing support. We also could not have done it without the engagement and ongoing dedication of our registrars. 

Have a very safe and happy Christmas, and we look forward to training together in the new year.

End-of-year shutdown period

The RACGP offices will close on Friday 22 December 2023 (end of day) and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January 2024 as we observe the holiday season. If you have an urgent matter that requires immediate assistance during this time, please contact our National Contact Centre on 1800 472 247. Essential staff will be available to support you on the 27, 28 and 29 of December. 

We look forward to assisting you with non-urgent inquiries from 2 January 2024 when the office re-opens. We appreciate your understanding. 

Self-Assessment Progress Testing (SAPT)

SAPT is an education activity designed to support your registrar’s learning and clinical reasoning teaching. It’s also a useful tool to help with exam preparation and self-assessment throughout their GP training.   

Each SAPT consists of 50 applied knowledge test (AKT) questions and 8 key feature problem (KFP) cases taken from previous RACGP exam papers. Once the test is complete, the registrar can access the correct response, the rationale behind the response, resources for that topic, appropriate curriculum link/s and suggestions for further study. They can choose to do the SAPT under exam conditions (80 mins for AKT and 80 mins for KFP) or non-exam conditions (untimed, self-timed, open or closed book).  

As a supervisor, we also recommend you complete a SAPT as part of your professional development, especially if it has been some time since you sat your fellowship examinations. Any time you spend on SAPT can be self-logged as CPD hours and will enable you to better support your registrar as they complete exam preparation. You can access the different modules by logging into your RACGP account and selecting gplearning.

2024 Education Calendars are now available

The 2024 AGPT Registrar Education Calendars for each region can now be viewed on our website. These calendars have been developed to highlight important dates for the upcoming year.  

More information about workshops, such as program information and registration, will be sent to registrars via email closer to the date of each workshop. 

Please note that the calendar may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. In this instance, we will notify you as soon as possible.
