Wishing you a safe and happy Christmas and New Year

With just a few weeks until the festive season break, it’s important to reflect on everything we’ve accomplished together this year. It’s no small feat that collectively we were able to transition the AGPT program back into the College. Together, we made this happen and have seized the opportunities and overcome the challenges throughout the year.   

I’d like to thank you for helping make GP training a success. We couldn’t do it without the support of our supervisors and their practice teams and are very grateful for your ongoing support. We also could not have done it without the engagement and ongoing dedication of our registrars. 

Have a very safe and happy Christmas, and we look forward to training together in the new year.

End-of-year shutdown period

The RACGP offices will close on Friday 22 December 2023 (end of day) and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January 2024 as we observe the holiday season. If you have an urgent matter that requires immediate assistance during this time, please contact our National Contact Centre on 1800 472 247. Essential staff will be available to support you on the 27, 28 and 29 of December. 

We look forward to assisting you with non-urgent inquiries from 2 January 2024 when the office re-opens. We appreciate your understanding.  

Coming soon: Northern Territory scholarship opportunity

Applications for the General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) Northern Territory scholarships will open in February 2024.  

The scholarships include: 

• Dr Debbie Stach GP Registrar of the Year Scholarship 

• Ada Wilmadda Parry Aboriginal Health Scholarship 

• Professor Alan Walker Paediatric Scholarship.  

A fourth, brand new scholarship will also be targeting prospective NT-based registrars. Applications for all scholarships will open on 12 February 2024 and close on 28 March 2024.

2024 Education Calendars are now available

The 2024 AGPT Registrar Education Calendars for each region can now be viewed on our website. These calendars have been developed to highlight important dates for the upcoming year.  

More information about workshops, such as program information and registration, will be sent to registrars via email closer to the date of each workshop. 

Please note that the calendar may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. In this instance, we will notify you as soon as possible.
