Training intention update closing 2 April

Please log into the TMS and complete your training intention update for the 2024.2 semester before Tuesday 2 April.  

All registrars continuing in the AGPT program with the RACGP in 2024.2 need to complete the training intention update, including registrars on leave, hospital and all extension terms.

Feedback is gold - multi-source feedback opens 8 April

Feedback from your patients and your peers can provide valuable information to support your training progress.  It helps you understand what you’re doing well and can identify opportunities for further improvement. 

The multi-source feedback (MSF) tool utilised is a valid and reliable workplace-based method of assessing interpersonal and professional behaviour and clinical skills.  It is conducted during GPT2 and registrars are provided with a period of up to three months to complete the assessment.  

Registrars that are scheduled to complete the MSF in 2024.1 will receive a direct email from their training coordinator with further details by the 29 of March 2024. 

Do you work in a rural or remote location? You may be eligible for the Rural Advanced Skills payment

The Workforce Incentive Program – Rural Advanced Skills payment is available for GPs and Rural Generalists providing emergency or advanced skills services, in addition to their primary care role, in rural and remote locations. Payments are available annually, recognising services delivered in 2023, 2024 and 2025. View the full eligibility criteria here.

The Department of Health and Aged Care is hosting a webinar on 2 April 2024 at 6.00 pm AEDT to provide GPs with further information about the program and answer any questions. The webinar will cover the following topics:

• Overview of the program and its purpose
• Eligibility requirements
• Payment arrangements
• Application process and how to apply.

Want to explore an academic career as part of your GP training journey?

Applications for a fully funded academic post in 2025 are open from 6 May to 15 July.   

During an academic post registrars partner with a university to teach medical students and develop a research project in an area of general practice that interests them, while receiving mentoring and support from medical educators, university supervisors and the RACGP.      

The AGPT Academic Post Program is a fantastic opportunity to make lasting connections with leading academic institutions and build the foundation for a career in academia or medical education.

Cultural Education Grants – opportunity for NT registrars

General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) has launched Cultural Education Grants for Northern Territory-based GP registrars. 

Grants of up to $500 are available to help registrars access further cultural education development opportunities to better support First Nations communities.

Library resource trial – seeking your feedback

A key library resource, the Murtagh Collection, will soon only be available as part of a new comprehensive resource, AccessWorldMed.  

AccessWorldMed has the Murtagh e-texts and case materials at its core, but also includes procedural videos, further medical texts, flashcards, Q&As and more.  

The library is running a trial of AccessMedWorld between 14 and 29 March to help us decide whether to subscribe to this much expanded resource for member access.
