Placements for 2023.2

The placement process is nearing completion, and practices have commenced making offers. It's now time for registrars to start the process of applying for Medicare Provider Numbers (MPN) if they haven't already.

Medicare Provider numbers are due by 12th June.

Supervisor CPD

We’re now able to recognise the important work GP supervisors do by automatically allocating CPD hours for all GPs who supervise GPT1-GPT3 registrars in the RACGP AGPT and FSP programs.

This simplified process applies to active RACGP supervisors in the Australian General Practice Training program (AGPT) and the Fellowship Support Program (FSP) who are supervising at least one GP registrar in 2023 (GPT1–GPT3).

Later this month we will upload hours for primary and secondary supervisors with registrars in the first half of 2023, per the table below.

CPD hours will be allocated in May (midway through 2023.1) for supervisors who have a registrar in the first half of the year. For supervisors who only have a registrar in the second half of the year, hours will be allocated in August 2023 (mid-way 2023.2)

GP Supervisor with at least one registrar GPT1–GPT3 in a calendar year
Primary Supervisor: 30 hours of CPD*	10 hours of Educational Activities (EA)
CPD will cover all three of the MBA activity types: EA, RP and MO.	15 hours Reviewing Performance (RP)
	5 hours Measuring Outcomes (MO)
Secondary Supervisor: 20 hours of CPD*	5 hours of Educational Activities (EA)
CPD will cover all three of the MBA activity types: EA, RP and MO.	10 hours Reviewing Performance (RP)
	5 hours Measuring Outcomes (MO)

Only one allocation of CPD hours applies per calendar year.

**The hours are based on estimates of time spent teaching and supervising by GP supervisors of GPT1-3 registrars.

2023 Health of the Nation survey

The Health of the Nation survey is now open, and the following RACGP members are invited to add their voice to the survey:

Fellowed members
Vocationally registered members
Fellowed and vocationally registered CPD only participants
RACGP GPs in training

This year’s topic of interest is 'attracting and retaining the general practice workforce' and is an opportunity for members to contribute to the largest general practice survey in Australia and help the RACGP build a powerful evidence-based advocacy tool.

Complete the survey now

The results of the survey feed into our annual General Practice: Health of the Nation report, which pulls together survey findings and publicly available data on general practice to provide annual insights into the sector and track trends over time.

Members who complete the survey will have a chance to win a registration to WONCA 2023 by simply telling us about an experience that highlights what you most enjoy about general practice.

The survey will close at 11.59pm (AEST) on 31 May 2023.
