I thought a quick note might be helpful for all training practices to highlight the above, as well as changes to registrar wages effective 1 July 2023.
Under the NTCER, Medicare indexation applies to the base rate for registrars. This indexation applies from the 1/7/23. To clarify, the base rate for registrars from 1 July 2023 should be increased by 3.6%.
For a GPT1 registrar that will mean the base rate effective 1/7/23 is now $41.75 ($40.30 x 1.036) or the percentage (which remains at 44.79%), whichever is higher.
As negotiated by GPSA and GPRA, there is also another increase to base rates – from the commencement of Semester2023.2. The new base rate for a GPT1 at the commencement of Semester 2023.2 is $42.96. The base rates for all levels have now changed.
If you would like more information or to clarify, I suggest visiting the General Practice Registrars Australia website.
Also remember that superannuation for registrars increased to 11% on 1/7/23 along with other practice staff.
If you would like to discuss matters pertaining to training, I am happy to chat, please feel free to contact me via deborah.docking@racgp.org.au or through my practice on 08 83962522.
Stay warm and well. Regards, Deb.
