Every healthcare location’s PKI site certificate will need to be renewed and installed before 13 March 2022.

Services Australia has been working with software developers to prepare you for the changes to digital claiming.

These changes will see online claiming channels upgraded to web services and the replacement of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) site certificates with Provider Digital Access (PRODA).

As part of this upgrade, every healthcare location’s PKI site certificate will need to be renewed and installed before 13 March 2022.

The pandemic and subsequent vaccine rollouts have placed additional pressures on healthcare locations. We have anticipated the impact this will have on GPs being unable to make the transition by the deadline.

To help alleviate this, we are renewing all Medicare and PBS PKI site certificates to ensure healthcare locations can continue to access our digital health channels from this date.

As part of this effort, we have automatically renewed some PKI site certificates, where possible.

Where we were unable to do this, a CD with the renewed certificate was mailed to your healthcare location. CDs were sent mid-2021 and were addressed to the Certificate Manager registered in our system.

If you haven’t received a CD, information on what you need to do is available on the Services Australia website.

What you need to do
If you received a CD in the mail, you must install your renewed certificate before 13 March 2022.

Installing your renewed certificate will ensure you’re able to transact with us digitally from this date.

If you need help installing your renewed PKI site certificate you can:

  • contact your software developer
  • call the eBusiness Service Centre on 1800 700 199 (8 am to 5 pm local time) and select option 2.
If your organisation uses NASH PKI certificates, they could also be expiring and may need to be renewed online via HPOS.

You’ll also need to install it to maintain access to digital health tools such as electronic prescribing and My Health Record. More information is available on the Digital Health website.

If you need a new NASH PKI certificate, you can request one via HPOS.

More information
GPs interested in finding out more about the upgrade to web services and PRODA should visit the Services Australia website.
