In Practice: EOIs for accredited training sites
The RACGP is seeking to accredit new training sites in eligible GP catchments to address areas of workforce need across Australia.
The RACGP is seeking new training sites across Australia to deliver high-quality, safe training for general practice registrars.
This week’s In Practice also includes a temporary PBS Continued Dispensing Emergency Measure to support those impacted by the Queensland floods to continue to access their PBS-subsidised medicines.
GP catchments: EOIs for accreditation
The RACGP is calling for expressions of interest (EOIs) to accredit a limited number of new training sites in areas of workforce need across New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland. This initiative aims to ensure quality training opportunities for general practice registrars in 2025.
The RACGP is specifically seeking training sites that currently hold National General Practice Accreditation and have supervisors dedicated to a culture of teaching and learning. These sites must deliver high-quality, safe training for registrars in accordance with these standards:
Interested training sites in eligible GP catchments are encouraged to submit their EOIs through the following links:
EOIs for other eligible GP catchments across Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory will commence around April 2025.
More information is available on the
RACGP accreditation website, with details on eligible GP catchments and EOIs via
this webpage.
Update to Continued Dispensing Arrangements: Emergency measures
From 4 February to 31 March, a temporary PBS Continued Dispensing Emergency Measure has been put in place to support people impacted by the flooding disaster in Far North Queensland to continue to access their PBS-subsidised medicines.
This PBS Continued Dispensing Emergency Measure will support access to a wider range of PBS medicines than under ongoing continued dispensing arrangements, covering most medicines on the general schedule of the PBS. More information is available on the
PBS website.
Integrating CPD into your practice’s regular collaborative activities
Practice meetings can be a source of Measuring Outcomes (MO) CPD for the whole team. Reviewing and updating a practice process or addressing a specific service like analysing the reminder and recall system can be used as MO CPD. Measuring the effectiveness of the changes made will support future clinical and non-clinical decision making.
Helpful links for in-practice CPD:
- When recording the practice meeting as a group (one GP records for everyone together), use the GP-led form. Visit myCPD Home, select the ‘Log’ menu and click on ‘GP-led activity’.
- When recording practice meetings individually, use quick log and ensure to include a note about the quality improvement focus from the meeting.
- To capture an individual quality improvement that represents a significant change, consider using the Measuring Outcomes tool. Visit myCPD Home, select the ‘Log’ menu and click on the tool.
