Cancer clinical guidance
Cancer Australia is inviting GPs to have their say on the draft clinical guidance for pancreatic cancer.

Surveillance in people at high risk of pancreatic cancer: Submissions close Sunday 4 February

Identifying and investigating people who may have undiagnosed pancreatic cancer: Consultation closes Wednesday 14 February

Development of the clinical guidance is a key priority of the agency’s work to progress the implementation of the National Pancreatic Cancer Roadmap – aimed at improving outcomes and survival rates for Australians. Survey responses and written submissions will be used to inform the development of the clinical guidance.

Working Better for Medicare Review
RACGP Rural is leading consultation for the Working Better for Medicare Review on behalf of the college. Federal Health and Aged Care Minister Mark Butler announced the review in November 2023 to identify ways to improve access to health by building a more stable, motivated, and properly located workforce.

Consultation begins on 22 January, closing 1 March, and RACGP Rural will distribute further information to members as it’s received. Any questions about the consultation can be sent to rural@racgp.org.au

Small Town Rural General Practice ARST
RACGP Rural has released the Small Town Rural General Practice (STRGP) Additional Rural Skills Training (ARST) curriculum.

The STRGP ARST is aimed at GPs based in rural MMM 4–7 locations, where rural GPs live in the community in which they work and provide primary, emergency and secondary care to support a range of community needs.

STRGP aims to recognise the additional skills and expanded scope of practice a rural GPs needs to provide longitudinal care for patients with complex care needs in an environment with limited access to non-GP specialists and other health services. Contact rg@racgp.org.au for further information.
