Members are being reminded to participate in Australia’s largest general practice survey to help shape the college’s advocacy goals.

GP filling out the survey
GPs are being asked to participate in the Health of the Nation survey to help inform RACGP advocacy.

This week’s In Practice also includes an invitation to participate in a study looking at COVID-19 communication, and details on a series of webinars aimed at practice governance, financial basics and digital health.

Add your voice to the 2023 Health of the Nation survey
Help shape the future of general practice by completing the Health of the Nation survey.

The survey results feed into the Health of the Nation report, an essential part of the RACGP’s advocacy for GPs and their patients. This year’s focus is attracting and retaining the general practice workforce.

Member input provides critical insights into the issues facing GPs and informs the Health of the Nation report, which is the most comprehensive analysis of Australian general practice and a vital advocacy tool for the RACGP and the profession.

The survey takes around 12 minutes to complete and gives members the chance to win free registration to WONCA 2023 this October.

Once members complete the survey, they can earn CPD hours by doing the 2023 Health of the Nation reflective CPD activity which builds on this year’s topic of interest. The activity is available on the gplearning.

The Health of the Nation survey is now open and will run until 22 May, 11.59 pm (AEST).

Practice essentials webinar series
The RACGP, in partnership with the Australian Digital Health Agency, is running a series of digital health webinars in the first half of 2023.

Our upcoming electronic prescribing webinar will provide:

  • an update on the rollout of electronic prescribing functionality across Australia
  • tips to share with patients who are finding it challenging to manage multiple electronic prescription tokens and introduce the Active Script List

Invitation to participate in COVID-19 communication study
University of Technology Sydney’s Catriona Bonfiglioli is leading a study on communications during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The study will focus on professional, journalistic and community-level communications and their contribution to public health in Australia.

The study aims to examine both public and professional views about COVID-19 communications and reveal the strengths and weaknesses of these communications to inform future resources for scaffolding professional communications and journalist resources.

As part of the study, Catriona is seeking input from health professionals in the form of a short online survey (10–20 minutes) with the option to take part in a follow-up interview (20–60 minutes) or focus group (1.5–2 hours).

To get involved, or to seek more information about the study and what it involves, please email Catriona Bonfiglioli at Catriona.bonfiglioli@uts.edu.au
