President Dr Bastian Seidel believes the RACGP’s position as the peak body and voice for Australian general practice has been further underlined by the fact that some of Australia’s most senior politicians will be speaking at its upcoming annual conference – GP17 – to be held at the new International Convention Centre Sydney 26–28 October.

‘The calibre of guests who want to be part of the conference, including the Federal Minister for Health and the Federal Opposition Leader, underscores that not only is the conference the most significant event on the Australian general practice calendar, but that the RACGP is recognised as the most influential health group in the country,’ Dr Seidel told newsGP. ‘Politicians want to hear what Australia’s GPs have to say.’

The RACGP has confirmed the following politicians will be speaking at GP17:

  • Bill Shorten, Leader of the Federal Opposition
  • Greg Hunt Federal Minister for Health
  • Catherine King, Shadow Minister for Health and Medicare
  • Richard Di Natale, Leader of the Australian Greens
Visit gp17.com.au for more information and to register for the conference.
