Melbourne GP Dr Ash Gordon is being remembered as a ‘cheeky, light-hearted, fun person’.

Two teenagers have been charged with murder, aggravated burglary, and theft after a GP died in Melbourne’s east on the weekend.

Dr Ash Gordon was found dead on a Doncaster street in the early hours of Saturday morning following an alleged confrontation.

Police confirmed they were called following reports of an aggravated burglary at the 33-year-old man’s Sargent Street home.

The two boys from Dandenong and Travancore were arrested on Wednesday and later interviewed by police.

Victoria Police Serious Crime Division Superintendent Janet Stevenson said the Homicide Squad had been investigating tirelessly since Dr Gordon’s death.

‘We know that Ash’s family and loved ones are grieving,’ she said.

‘This arrest will not take away the tragedy of this dreadful situation, but we hope that it will alleviate some of their distress.

‘We will continue to provide all the support they require during this difficult time.’

Tributes continue to pour in for the respected GP and dermatology specialist, remembered by his sister as a ‘cheeky, light-hearted, fun person’ who loved being a doctor.

Many of his patients at the Box Hill Superclinic say they have been left in shock following Dr Gordon’s sudden death.

‘He was one of the best doctors that I ever had! He was such a great GP, He did care about his patients,’ one person said.

‘He was a wonderful doctor, very thorough and professional; it’s just devastating,’ said another.

Superintendent Stevenson described Dr Gordon as a ‘much-loved, valued member of our community’.

‘We are all trying to make sense of what has occurred,’ she said.

‘This type of incident can create fear and uncertainty. We want our community to feel safe in their homes and to that end, Victoria Police will do continue to do everything in our power to make this a reality.’

The two teenagers are set to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

There have been too many burglaries happening in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne lately. Even I had a burglary at my place. The police are under staffed and so unable to do anything. The only way to stop this activity is to control illicit drugs and tougher punishment for the perpetrators.
