The Australia-wide survey for the 2018 edition of the RACGP’s landmark General practice: Health of the nation’ report begins on Tuesday 10 April.

The 2018 Health of the Nation survey is designed to help provide a snapshot of general practice, as well as the wellbeing of the country as a whole.
The 2018 Health of the Nation survey is designed to help provide a snapshot of general practice, as well as the wellbeing of the country as a whole.

The inaugural 2017 edition of the General practice: Health of the Nation report, which drew on specifically commissioned research involving more than 1300 GPs from all over Australia, shone a light on a number of fascinating and far-reaching trends within the general practice profession.

‘In showing that more than 85% of the Australian population visits their GP every year – and practices provide more than 150 million services annually – the 2017 report underlined the vital role primary care plays in the health of all Australians,’ RACGP President Dr Bastian Seidel told newsGP.

‘The Health of the Nation report provides a vital snapshot not only into general practice, but into the wellbeing of the country itself.

‘This year’s survey will help us gain an even deeper understanding of what makes Australian healthcare tick.’

RACGP Fellows will be emailed a personalised URL inviting them to participate in the 2018 Health of the Nation survey on Tuesday 10 April. The survey results will be collated and published in September.

‘With more time to analyse the data in 2018, we aim to present Australian GPs with the clearest possible picture of their vocation – clinically, professionally, governmentally, and even personally,’ Dr Seidel said.

‘GPs are the gatekeepers of Australia’s health and this report provides them with the strongest indicators of how to provide their patients with the best possible care.’

I have just retired after 43 years of GP, country, overseas, inner suburban, etc.

I am a member of the Special Interest Faculty Disability Medicine.

Our group is writing to council to make representation to Government so GPs are more involved in the National Disability Insurance Schemes (NDIS).

The chair is Prof Bob Davis.

Currently the feeling is that the NDIS has cut thye GP out of the process and anecdotally is actually taking many of our patients backward.

We would like some press on this matter as well as SOME communication?

Regards
