The college’s ongoing partnership with Jean Hailes will bring a series of resources and events for Women’s Health Week.

Female GP with female patient
Women’s Health Week serves as a valuable reminder for women to visit their GP to catch up on any missed scheduled health checks.

This week’s round-up also includes an opportunity for GPs to become a digital health expert advisor with the Australian Digital Health Agency, and upcoming CPD-eligible events.

Women’s Health Week partnership
The RACGP has again teamed up with Jean Hailes for Women’s Health Week (5–11 September) to celebrate women in general practice and to raise awareness of women’s health issues.

RACGP President Professor Karen Price has said she is proud to serve as a women’s health ambassador this year, and is reminding all women, girls and gender diverse people that it’s okay to put yourself first and set some time aside to prioritise your health.

Women’s Health Week serves as a valuable reminder of missed scheduled health checks over the past months, and the RACGP is reminding women to book an appointment with their GP.

More information, resources, tools and tips to support women’s health and wellbeing are available on the Women’s Health Week website.

Become a digital health expert advisor
The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) is seeking applications through a Request for Tender process for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join their group of expert advisors who will support the agency’s program of work.

As a digital health expert advisor, you will apply everyday health industry experience to the design, development and implementation of ADHA products and services. This includes focusing on the clinical safety, quality and usability of all products and services developed by the ADHA, along with the systems within which the ADHA operates.

Applications close 19 September. More information and applications are available online.

The RACGP’s ‘Mental bites’ lunch-time webinar series provides bite-sized information presented by the college’s Specific Interests Psychological Medicine group.

GPs are aware of mental health assessments, diagnosis, and management, but this series will be an opportunity to learn more about how to do the work – the micro-skills of engagement, forming safe and effective therapeutic alliances and communication with patients.

The seventh webinar in the series, presented by Dr Johanna Lynch, President of the Australian Society for Psychological Medicine, will focus on trauma-informed care, and the importance of sense of safety as a strength-based approach to trauma in the general practice setting.

The webinar will outline practical skills GPs can use while treating and communicating with patients. There will also be a Q&A with an expert in this field.
