Dr Karen Price is ready to work with Australia’s GPs.

‘I have extraordinary faith in the RACGP’s community of members, and our ability to rise above the difficulties of this year and continue to deliver a high level of care, regardless of what more may come,’ the new RACGP President wrote in newsGP.

‘It is my firm belief that teamwork and coordination drive outcomes.’

Following her election in September, Dr Price officially assumed the role of RACGP President at the college’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday 30 November.

Chair of RACGP Queensland Dr Bruce Willet has been named RACGP Vice-President.

Elsewhere on the RACGP Board, Christine Nixon has retained her role as Chair, while Martin Walsh will remain Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee, and Associate Professor Charlotte Hespe will be Chair of the People and Culture, Remuneration and Nominations Committee (formerly the Nominations and Remuneration Committee).

The People and Culture, Remuneration and Nominations Committee will now have an expanded focus to cover the people and culture of the RACGP.

In addition, Dr Tess van Duuren has become the Censor-in-Chief (no longer in an acting capacity), Dr Sean Black-Tiong has taken over from Dr Krystyna de Lange as Chair of RACGP GPs in Training, and Dr Anita Muñoz has taken over from Dr Cameron Loy as Chair of RACGP Victoria.

The Board also formally recorded its thanks to Acting President Associate Professor Ayman Shenouda, who has served in the position since the death of past President Dr Harry Nespolon in July.
