Registration is now open for the RACGP’s 64th Clinical Update, exploring a central theme of how GPs can build a healthier future for the profession and patients.

The biannual GP-led conference will be held at the JW Marriott on the Gold Coast from 22–23 February 2025.

With a theme of ‘building a healthier future’, the two-day event will focus on intergenerational care, the future and diversity of general practice, and basic life support.

The Clinical Update will host up to 200 delegates, including Australian GPs, GPs in training, registrars, medical students, as well as key industry leaders.

The program, which has now been released in full, includes sessions on:

  • Future of AI in General Practice
  • menopause
  • gender diversity
  • obesity management
  • dementia and driving
  • refugee health
  • funding systems and MyMedicare
It also offers four skills sessions:

  • For GPs: End-of-life care, advanced care planning  and obligations related to voluntary assisted dying
  • Reclaiming old ground: Three or four of the most common GP practical skills
  • Casting and splinting: Management of fractures in primary care
  • Everything you need to know to make the most of dermoscopy in your practice
RACGP President Dr Michael Wright, who will also open the conference with a keynote address, told newsGP the conference is an opportunity for members to not only learn and improve their clinical skills, but to network with colleagues.

‘There has never been a more important time to discuss and explore the future of general practice, both clinically and for our profession,’ he said.

‘This conference’s focus on intergenerational and future care will offer an incredibly valuable insight into where our careers are all heading, and what we can do to ensure we are providing the best possible care for our patients, both now and into the future.

‘I’m also really looking forward to catching up with members and learning more from many of the GP experts.’

By attending this conference, GPs can also earn up to 19.5 CPD hours, including conference attendance and optional Reviewing Performance (RP) and Measuring Outcomes (MO) activities.

Early bird registration will remain open until 27 January 2025, costing $390 for RACGP members, $190 for GPs in training, registrars, interns and medical students, and $600 for non-members.
