The Medicare funding commitment has been a central part of the election campaigning so far.

The RACGP is holding a webinar for members looking at the impact of recent major Medicare election commitments.

The Labor Government’s pledge of an $8.5 billion funding injection into Medicare, matched the same day by the Coalition, is likely to have a far-reaching effect on general practice.

In response, members are invited to the ‘RACGP National member webinar: Medicare election commitments’.

The webinar will delve into more detail about the commitments’ impact on GPs, practices and patients.

With registration now open, members are invited to help shape the RACGP’s response to the promises, to ask questions, provide feedback, and offer insights into their impact.

‘We know members have many questions about the Government’s recent Medicare funding announcements and their impact on GPs – I have already received a wide range of feedback from around the country,’ RACGP President Dr Michael Wright told newsGP.

‘As your membership organisation, we’re committed to representing your views. We are running this webinar to help provide insight into what we know so far, as well as to answer your questions.

‘We will provide the latest updates on these announcements, along with modelling on how the proposed changes may affect different practice settings and circumstances.

‘We will also share tools to help you better understand how these changes could affect your practice.

‘I encourage everyone to tune in, and to submit any queries you may have in advance.’

Alongside Dr Wright, speakers will include Dr Rebekah Hoffman, RACGP NSW&ACT Chair and practice owner, and Cubiko Chief Executive Chris Smeed.

The webinar will be recorded and is set to take place at 8.00 pm (AEDT) on Tuesday 11 March. To attend, register online.

Questions can be emailed in advance to memberengagement@racgp.org.au.
